Funeral Held for Pro Life Sidewalk Warrior Irene Apple of Albany NY.

With deep sadness I am writing to tell you of the passing of Pro-Life Sidewalk Warrior Irene Apple, formerly of Albany, NY.  Irene passed away at her daughter’s home in Shaftsbury Vermont on Friday, May 23rd after a long illness.  Irene’s selfless devotion to the young mothers and innocent unborn babies coming to the Planned Parenthood Albany Clinic an 259 Lark St Albany, NY 12210, as well as her dedicated service to the elderly at Villa Mary Immaculate Nursing Home in Albany NY is a page right from the Gospel of Life.

As a consistent Witness for Life even into her seventies, Irene braved all kinds of weather arriving on her bicycle to picket and pray and offer hope to the young mothers going in for abortions on Lark Street.   Sometimes health and personal obligations prevented Irene from staying more than a quarter of an hour, but nevertheless she came in faith anyway, knowing that the Lord would fully accept her gift of time in standing up for his most precious pre-born children.  Irene’s loving example of the “little way” is a model for all of us to follow as we seek to serve Christ in the most vulnerable amongst us. May God’s face shine upon you, Irene, and give you peace.

Funeral arrangements were posted in the Times Union on Monday, May 25th.  There will be a wake at the Brewster Funeral Home, 34 Park Place, Manchester Center, Vermont, from 6 to 8PM on Tuesday, May 26th. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, Route 153, West Pawlet, VT on Wednesday, May 27th at 11:30AM.

I do not have a street address for her daughter in Shaftsbury, but I believe that cards addressed in care of the funeral home will reach her daughter, Mary Woods.

Sincerely for Life, Michael Schweigert President Citizens Concerned for Humanlife  Albany NY
