Happy Easter
from the San Antonio Coalition for Life!
Dear Calendarforlife.org,
On this anniversary of our Lord's resurrection we at the San Antonio Coalition for Life wanted to wish you a Happy Easter! I have a special gift to give you in the form of a beautiful story witnessed on the sidewalk yesterday on Holy Saturday. This Easter Blessing story comes from an amazing woman, Cathy Nix, whom many of you know as our sidewalk counselor trainer. With the combined efforts of Shannon Haase and Yolanda I excitedly share with you the following: From Cathy Nix: "Orlando and Catherine came to PP for an abortion today around 10:45 a.m. They pulled into a parking spot by the sidewalk, and Yolanda was closest to greet them. Catherine looked back, but walked directly into the clinic. Orlando hung back, took information from Yolanda, and took a rosary from Shannon. He looked uncommitted. Then he walked in. We all prayed for them because we sensed that he might be able to talk her into coming out - of not aborting. There was something in his eyes!
Yolanda left around 11, and I left around 11:40. They still hadn't come out, but I touched base with Shannon about them, and she was on the lookout. I'm not sure what time it was when they finally came out, but Shannon was there. She asked Catherine, "Do we still have a baby?" and Catherine said yes. Catherine got directly into the car, but Orlando stayed out on the sidewalk. He wept into Shannon's arms and held her for a long time. She invited him to pray the mysteries of the rosary with him, and he knelt beside her and prayed. He was there for an hour listening as she explained each mystery and the love of Jesus Christ. Other counselors were sent to Allied to retrieve a pair of booties and a new baby outfit. They were able to present these as the first baby gift to Orlando and Catherine.
People say that miracles happen every day. Well folks, there was one today. Easter will never be the same for this blessed couple. We can never underestimate what God can do. If we hadn't been there, it would have been done. Another tick on our count list (now 81 saved babies since 2007!). But God had other plans for this one, and it has blessed us all.
Happy Easter. I hope this story makes yours even more joyful! See you on the sidewalk...."
No one could have said it better than that. Happy Easter and see you on the sidewalk!
