"I agree that technically the fetus is a human being from conception but, I do not care. Humanity is determined by human interaction. Not by biologically having the composition of a human. The value of humanity is based off of ones interaction with society. If a human is not having this interaction with society then its life is of no worth and it is completely ok to end that human life."

The first time I heard this statement I automatically recognized the socialism behind it. I recognized the danger in this way of thinking. I remember staring back at the young Belgian man who told me this and I could not believe my ears.
Soon after talking to him though I was confronted by statements identical and similar to his. I began to understand that this socialist view is adamant in the culture in the culture of Belgium. Many days I leave schools feeling discouraged in America but I have never been exposed to so many young people who are buying into the lies that "humanity is determined by your contribution to society". That night after my first day of activism in Belgium I sat and contemplated these things.

This was the greatest culture shock for me. I hear these beliefs on college campuses in the United States however it is not a common belief. In Belgium the socialist ideas are so ingrained in the education of the youth that literally every student I talked to gave me these same arguments.
The apathy in Belgium shocked me. Students did not care. They did not have a stance on abortion and most were not even opposed to the legalization of abortion through the entire pregnancy.
Students mocked our beliefs. They were convinced that our agenda was completely because of our faith. I had to explain that although my faith is what compels me to dedicate a year of my life to protecting the preborn. That it is basic science that gives me the ground to stand on that life begins at conception.
Still students did not want to talk. Christianity is looked down upon in Belgium. As a very atheistic and unchurched nation Belgians do not want to talk to someone who has Christian beliefs. Christianity is seen as regressive and Belgians pride themselves on being "progressive". In the end these atheistic views are doing the opposite. Euthanasia and assisted suicide os not uncommon in Belgium. Many are pressing to pass a law that would allow a minor to decide to have assisted suicide if he did not want to live life anymore.
The Belgians are living in a culture of death. Not just physical death but spiritual death. However, I have hope for Belgium. During my time in Belgium I was able to get to know the pro-life youth. Their excitement in fighting abortion is something that I will be taking back to America. They do not have the resources to the things we have in the United States as far as crisis pregnancy center and pro-life organizations. However, their hearts are completely dedicated to the pre-born. I left Belgium sure that they will begin a revolution of life in Belgium.
I want to thank all of you who supported this trip. Although we went with the intention to teach the youth in Belgium we also learned a lot in return. I want to ask that you would continue to pray for the pro-life youth in Belgium. That God would guide them in how to use their passion for the pre-born and that they would not be discouraged by the socialist agenda in Belgium. Please pray that God would provide the training that they need in order to be a witness of life to the people of Belgium.
Thank you again for all of you prayers and to see more photos from our trip click the photo below.
