The Tide is Turning on College Campuses!
With two brand new team members on the Campus Life Tour team I was a bit nervous about how they would handle the harsh reactions we typically receive on college campuses. However, I was pleasantly surprised each day. Our first day out we bumped into cabinet members of the Christian club on campus. They expressed interested in starting a pro-life club and invited us back on campus for Valentine's Day to counter a group that is handing out condoms. One of the students, even having just met us, jumped in our van and joined us at the high school demonstration. The following day at Cal State - San Bernardino we expected more opposition since it's a bigger university. Wrong again. We collected over 20 names and e-mails of pro-life students! At every campus we plant seeds of the pro-life message. But, we don't typically see the end result. At CSU, we had students actually say, "You changed my mind. I am now pro-life. How can I help?" In fact, normally we leave the colleges around 1:30 or 2pm. But because we had so many amazing, God- ordained conversations we stayed on campus until 5:30! Yesterday was a long day. Two schools followed by a Planned Parenthood protest. And although we were completely exhausted upon returning home at 11pm, we thanked God for all the hearts we know he touched and for giving us the opportunity to stand against injustice in His name. If our first week is any indication of how the semester will go, we are in for an energizing and encouraging tour. As one student told us: "I am going to talk to my roommates about this now. I was a fence-walker on the issue before and you have pushed me over to the pro-life side." As we reach students with the pro-life message, they will spread it to their peers and we will win this battle for the babies!
